Estimation of molecular diffusivity in liquid phase systems on the basis of the absolute rate theory.

چکیده
This study was concerned about an estimation of molecular diffusivity (D(m)) in liquid phase systems. An equation based on the absolute rate theory of diffusion was derived by considering the aggregation of not only solvent molecules, but also solute molecules. It was also studied how the replacement of the molar volume of a solvent with its molecular weight influences the accuracy in estimating D(m). The values of D(m) estimated by the equation were compared with those experimentally measured. The mean square deviation for the estimation of D(m) was calculated as being about 14% for 217 D(m) data measured in aqueous solutions of methanol and acetonitrile, which is comparable to that obtained by the Wilke-Chang equation. However, Dm of some solutes in carbon tetrachloride was more accurately estimated by this equation than by the Wilke-Chang equation. It is expected that the equation proposed in this study is effective for estimating D(m) in liquid phase systems.

Pressure Loss Estimation of Three-Phase Flow in Inclined Annuli for Underbalanced Drilling Condition using Artificial Intelligence
Underbalanced drilling as multiphase flow is done in oil drilling operation in low pressure reservoir or highly depleted mature reservoir. Correct determination of the pressure loss of three phase fluids in drilling annulus is essential in determination of hydraulic horsepower requirements during drilling operations. In this paper the pressure loss of solid-gas-liquid three-phase fluids flow in...
متن کاملPrediction of Vapor-Liquid Equilibria Using CEOS /GE Models
The present study investigates the use of different GE mixing rules in cubic equations of state for prediction of phase behavior of multicomponent hydrocarbon systems. To predict VLE data in multicomponent symmetric and asymmetric mixtures such as systems that contain light gases (nitrogen, carbon dioxide, etc.) and heavy hydrocarbons, the SRK equation of state has been combined with excess Gib...
متن کاملThe Impact of Wettability on Effective Properties of Cathode Catalyst Layer in a Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell
The produced liquid water in cathode catalyst layer (CCL) has significant effect on the operation of proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC). To investigate this effect, the transport of oxygen in CCL in the presence of immiscible liquid water is studied applying a two-dimensional pore scale model. The CCL was reconstructed as an agglomerated system. To explore the wettability effects, diffe...
متن کاملModeling Critical Flow through Choke for a Gas-condensate Reservoir Based on Drill Stem Test Data
Gas-condensate reservoirs contain hydrocarbon fluids with characteristics between oil and gas reservoirs and a high gas-liquid ratio. Due to the large gas-liquid ratio, wellhead choke calculations using the empirical equations such as Gilbert may contain considerable error. In this study, using drill stem test (DST) data of a gas-condensate reservoir, coefficients of Gilbert equation was modifi...

The cycloalkylation of diethyl malonate and ethyl cyanoacetate with alkyl dihalide was investigated by using comminuted potassium carbonate as a base and toluene as a solvent in the presence of hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (HTMAB) as a phase-transfer catalyst, which provided a conventional procedure with the advantage of short reaction period and high product yield. The factors influencin...
